Programs
Recognizing that students possess different learning styles and learn best when they receive information through a variety of modalities, both the Build A Dream Program, Engine Design and the Driver/Team Development Program utilize multiple instructional strategies. Like most education programs, students read, write and take weekly paper and pencil assessments. Students are taught using state-of-the-art instructional technologies including Internet, computer and other digital technology; through performance-based activities such as motorsports racing; through project-based assignments (i.e. Fantasy Racing Team Project); service learning; internships and mentoring; team building and field trips or site visits.
A Gem in a Competitive After-School Market
New students are recruited to the UYRS through three primary methods: word-of-mouth from current students, school tour assembly talks conducted at various elementary, middle and high schools and through the media. In addition, UYRS participates in the school districts’ annual high school fair which attracts seventh and eighth grade students engaged in the selection and registration process for high school. UYRS staff provide UYRS racing cars and information about the school’s programs and conduct large-scale and one-on-one talks with prospective students. With only 100 spots available per year the school has a waitlist for enrollment.
