Motorsports

uyrs3.jpg      As a teenager growing up in Philadelphia, I became a racing fan by watching racing on TV. But like most other teenagers growing up in an inner-city neighborhood, I lacked exposure and the hands-on experience in the sport of racing. As a youngster I excelled in basketball and baseball, but I had a burning desire to get behind the wheel of a race car. Unfortunately there were no go kart tracks in the neighborhood and it’s unbelievable that in 2008 you still can’t find a go kart track in an inner city.  There for I never viewed racing as an attainable career. But these deterrents did not stop me from watching racing on television and fantasizing about being a professional race car driver!

With much determination in 1998 the Urban Youth Racing School was established, and here we are ten years later exposing youths of all walks of life to the motorsports industry.

We are proud of what we have been able to accomplish, and want to thank all the race teams and sponsors like Sears Craftsman, Joe Gibbs Racing and Hendrick Motorsports among many others that have opened their doors to let UYRS students get an inside view of what it’s really like to work in the industry.

UYRS.com is know an extension of UYRS that will allow us to keep exposing and educating youths that have not had the opportunity to enroll in a UYRS class. On this page you will find information on careers, news, sanctioning bodies and motorsports media outlets that provide knowledge of wealth about the Motorsports industry as a whole. Please contact us if you have any motorsports news or tidbits that you think we should share on our site.Picture9.jpgPicture3.jpgPicture1.jpgPicture2.jpgPicture5.jpgPicture6.jpgPicture4.jpgPicture8.jpgPicture7.png.jpg
