Mission

The Urban Youth Racing School (UYRS) offers urban youths, ages 8-18, the opportunity to learn, race, compete and explore career opportunities in motor sports.UYRS - Mission

The UYRS mission is to provide inner-city kids with an awareness of the motor sports industry through education, service learning, training, and racing.

This is accomplished through the Build-A-Dream Program, which is a two ten-week program (five weeks in classroom and five weeks on a go-karting track) serving 100 students yearly at each school site and the Driver/Team Development Program, which provides 40 advanced UYRS students with actual racing experience and professional race team work opportunities. Build A Dream and Driver/Team Development Programs focus on the motorsports industry, education, safety, youth development, citizenship and service learning. Both programs integrate and reinforce math, science, technology, English and literacy skills, business and marketing, communications and media, and consumer and life skills.

The educational skills, discipline, self-esteem and sportsmanship students gain from UYRS take them far beyond the race track. These are qualities that enrich every aspect of their lives as they grow into accomplished, self confident young men and women.
